Toyota has selected Yokohama Rubber’s GEOLANDAR A/T G31 and GEOLANDAR X-CV tyres as original equipment for its newly launched 2025 4Runner SUV. The fitments vary by region, supporting both all-terrain and highway applications with a focus on performance and environmental gains.
Yokohama Rubber confirmed the fitments as follows:
▪ Latin America: GEOLANDAR A/T G31 – 245/70R18 110H
▪ North America: GEOLANDAR X-CV – 245/70R17 110T and 265/55R20 113V
The new Toyota 4Runner entered the market in January 2025. These fitments reflect Toyota's intent to balance off-road capability with on-road performance, depending on the target market.
The GEOLANDAR A/T G31 tyre is engineered for off-road performance without compromising on-road handling. The tyre features:
▪ Enhanced fuel efficiency
▪ Reduced noise levels
▪ Improved ride comfort and steering stability
This is achieved through the optimisation of tread pattern, profile, and casing structure.
In contrast, the GEOLANDAR X-CV is a highway terrain tyre designed for high-speed stability and responsive handling. The OE versions for Toyota have been fine-tuned to:
▪ Lower rolling resistance
▪ Provide reliable performance in demanding driving environments
▪ Enhance comfort on paved surfaces
Both tyres were developed using HAICoLab, Yokohama’s proprietary AI-based R&D platform. This digital framework integrates human creativity with machine learning and data analysis, allowing for:
▪ Predictive simulation
▪ Genetic algorithm-based design optimisation
▪ Real-world and virtual data feedback
The tyre design process combined AI modelling with empirical testing to create optimised tyre structures suited for both rugged and urban driving conditions.
This OE supply supports Yokohama’s YX2026 mid-term strategy, which targets a higher global share of high-value-added tyres. GEOLANDAR tyres, positioned for SUVs and pickup trucks, form a core part of this objective alongside the ADVAN brand for performance cars.
