Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei has toured Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd., marking a significant milestone in the company's recovery following environmental compliance issues earlier this year.
On 31 October 2025, Ambassador Zhang, accompanied by Counselors Jiang Wei and Wu Jian, visited the Chon Buri Province facility to inspect operations and assess the company's progress following a period of rectification. The visit represents the Chinese Embassy's continued support for Chinese-funded enterprises operating overseas.
General Manager Zhang Yougan and the company's management team welcomed the delegation, expressing gratitude for the embassy's ongoing guidance during what has been a challenging period for the operation.
The visit comes three months after the company faced a temporary production ban in August 2025 due to environmental violations. The incident resulted in a one-month rectification period during which limited production continued.

In a candid acknowledgement, company officials expressed regret for the violations, attributing them to "insufficient knowledge" and recognising the negative impact on both Chinese and Thai governments, as well as the public.
During the rectification process, the company received guidance from both the Chinese Embassy and Thailand's Ministry of Industry. Thai authorities provided professional oversight whilst helping identify non-compliance issues and establishing clear rectification targets.
The collaborative approach yielded results. Following comprehensive reviews of production, R&D, and sales compliance management, the company has resumed normal operations. In a recent routine inspection, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) not only approved the rectification measures but awarded the facility an "Eco-Champion" certificate, signed by Thailand's Minister of Industry, recognising the company's cooperation and performance improvements.
During the ambassadorial visit, the delegation toured the exhibition hall and production workshops, examining the company's intelligent manufacturing processes, green production systems, and safety and environmental protection management protocols.
Ambassador Zhang commended the company's development achievements, particularly in production process optimisation, intelligent equipment application, green manufacturing, and quality control. He encouraged the operation to continue leveraging its advantages to enhance core competitiveness.

Despite the disruption, the company projects output value of RMB3.7 billion (approximately £400 million) for 2025. Recent commercial developments include cooperation agreements with MG Thailand and Changan Thailand, whilst the company participated in the 2025 Thailand-China Cooperation Expo, celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The Thai operation has deepened its localisation strategy, creating over 2,000 jobs for local workers and developing more than 60 Thai nationals into backbone management positions. Cultural integration initiatives include joint language exchange and learning courses for Chinese and Thai employees.
As a key component of Chengshan Group's international expansion strategy, the Thai facility has committed to maintaining higher compliance standards, learning from the recent challenges. Company leadership stated their intention to become an industry leader in green intelligent manufacturing, safety, environmental protection, and social responsibility.
The operation aims to align with Thailand's industrial development needs and contribute to China-Thailand economic cooperation, building on Chengshan Group's 50-year corporate heritage whilst demonstrating corporate responsibility through practical action.
