
Modern Tyres, a family-run tyre specialist with over 60 years in the Republic of Ireland, has entered into an agreement with Continental Tyres to acquire BestDrive Ireland. The deal is expected to complete by 1 September 2025.
The acquisition brings BestDrive Ireland’s 30‑year heritage and its team of around 200 employees under Modern Tyres’ umbrella, significantly broadening the business’s branch network and technical capabilities . Modern Tyres gains:

BestDrive Ireland MD Ian Feddersen highlighted that the acquisition “allows BestDrive Ireland to broaden its offering and continue to grow, realising its full local market potential.” He added that the transition ensures continuity and benefits for employees.
Branches, sales teams, and apprenticeship initiatives will continue to operate normally during the sale process, supporting staff and customers during the transition .
By integrating BestDrive's branch network and mobile servicing capacity, Modern Tyres boosts its ability to serve passenger and commercial customers across Ireland.
BestDrive’s EV servicing credentials complement the expanding shift towards electric vehicles, positioning Modern Tyres to meet rising demand for specialised EV tyre and service solutions.
Modern Tyres can better support fleet and LCV clients, blending BestDrive’s commercial service offerings into its broader product portfolio.
With EV adoption accelerating, combining BestDrive’s fleet of EV‑trained technicians with Modern Tyres’ operations creates a stronger platform for servicing electric vehicles, an increasingly crucial segment. The deal also adds depth to modern maintenance solutions, including vehicle diagnostics and battery systems, reinforcing the network's competitiveness.
