Point S International has held its second Next Generation Campus in Provence, France, bringing together around 40 future and recently appointed workshop leaders from nine countries for a programme focused on leadership, team development and business growth.

The five-day programme, held from 31 August to 4 September, involved representatives from Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Norway, Slovakia, South Africa and the UK. Participants included students preparing to enter family businesses, employees being developed for future leadership positions and recent successors already responsible for day-to-day operations.

This year's programme was structured around four areas: My Growth, Team Growth, Business Growth and Brand Growth. Sessions covered leadership and management skills, developing teams, customer satisfaction, monitoring commercial and financial performance, and improving the local digital visibility of workshop businesses.

Fabien Bouquet, CEO of Point S International, said the independent sector was entering an “age of rapid digital transformation”, with new technologies, digital tools and artificial intelligence changing how workshops operate and interact with customers.

Point S also identifies workforce pressures, changing customer expectations, electrification and evolving vehicle technology among the issues its independent members must navigate. Bouquet said technology was only part of that environment, with leadership, motivated teams, commercial management and customer experience remaining fundamental to workshop performance.

The emphasis represents a development from Point S's inaugural Next Generation Campus in 2025. That programme concentrated on leadership development, succession and preparing younger members of family businesses for changing automotive technology, while also using collaborative workshops to develop new service concepts.

The 2026 event retains that backdrop of technological change but puts greater emphasis on the practical management and growth of independent workshop businesses.

Separately, Point S has called for independent workshops to increase their capabilities in areas including electric vehicle maintenance and ADAS-related services, supported by technical training. The company positions the Next Generation Campus as part of its broader investment in developing the people who will lead businesses across its international network.

The primary Point S announcement did not give an attendance figure, but French trade coverage of the completed event reported that around 40 representatives attended this year's campus.
