Ecobat Finalises Sale of European Battery Division to Endless LLP
Ecobat has completed the sale of its European battery distribution business to UK private equity firm Endless LLP, in a move to concentrate on its core operations in battery recycling. The transaction marks a strategic shift for Ecobat as it narrows its focus on sustainability-driven services.
The divested distribution division supplied batteries for a wide range of sectors, including automotive, commercial vehicles, industrial, marine, and leisure markets. Known for distributing major brands such as Varta, Lucas, Exide, and Rolls, the unit played a key role in energy storage supply chains across Europe.
Tom Slabe, President & CEO of Ecobat, stated that the sale supports the company’s plan to shed non-core assets and enhance shareholder value. Ecobat intends to deepen its focus on battery recycling and materials recovery—areas seen as increasingly vital amid tightening European regulations and growing EV demand.
Endless LLP, a private equity firm with a track record in acquiring non-core business units, has taken over the division. With its operational expertise and current £400 million Fund V, Endless aims to support the continuity and growth of the battery distribution business.
The firm is known for strategic carve-outs and long-term value creation, and the acquisition adds to its industrial portfolio. Its leadership stated confidence in building on the division’s existing supplier relationships and established distribution networks.
Rothschild & Co advised Ecobat on the financial side of the transaction, with White & Case providing legal counsel.
