Halfords Orders 60 Extra Power360 Vans After Fuel-Saving Trial.

Halfords has ordered 60 additional Power360 equipped mobile tyre fitting vehicles from Bri-Stor Systems, part of The HEX Group. The deal follows a two-year trial and first wave rollout that delivered more than 30 percent fuel savings, along with predicted annual CO₂ reductions of over 1,200 tonnes across a 280 vehicle fleet.

Power360 replaces engine idling during tyre fitting with a high density lithium energy system. The setup powers compressors and workshop tools on site, which reduces fuel burn, lowers maintenance, and improves the customer experience with quieter operation.

Why it matters

  • Lower running costs. Cutting idling means immediate fuel savings and fewer unplanned maintenance issues.
  • Lower emissions. The first wave pointed to more than 30 percent fuel savings and a forecast 1,200 tonne annual CO₂ reduction across the fleet.
  • Better uptime. Fewer engine hours on vans supports longer service life and higher availability.
  • Improved customer experience. Quieter jobs on driveways and at workplaces.
Andrew Goodwin, Sales and Marketing Director at Bri-Stor Systems, said, “This contract proves that sustainable technology is not just about emissions, it is about hard commercial benefits too. Whole life cost savings more than offset the higher cost of green technology. Power360 helps fleets reduce in life fuel costs from day one, extend vehicle life and futureproof their fleet.”
Karl Baker, Director of Operations at Halfords Mobile Expert, said, “Our investment in 60 more Power360 equipped vehicles is based on hard evidence. The trials proved that lithium powered systems deliver real world savings on fuel, emissions and maintenance, while improving the customer experience. At a time when every cost counts, this technology is helping us build a fleet that is leaner, greener and fit for the future.”

How Power360 works

  • On board energy. A high density lithium pack provides silent, on site power for tyre changing and inflation equipment.
  • Charge on the move. The system recharges as the van travels between jobs.
  • Remote monitoring. Fleet managers can track energy use, system health and idling penalties.
  • Integrated kit. Developed with Portable Power Technology and paired with tyre service equipment from REMA TIP TOP.

With combustion engine phase out timelines ahead and customer demand for greener services rising, fleets are searching for low risk steps that deliver savings now. Power360 gives tyre service operators a practical bridge, cutting fuel today while preparing for more electrified vans tomorrow.
