Oak Tyres has marked World Earth Day 2026 by reporting a new sustainability milestone through its partnership with Ecologi. The independent tyre wholesaler said it has offset 9.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions and supported the planting of more than 70,000 trees, as tyre distributors face growing pressure to evidence environmental progress.
The update builds on Oak Tyres’ previous Earth Day reporting, when the company said it had offset 7.4 tonnes of CO₂e and supported more than 60,000 trees through Ecologi-backed activity. That earlier milestone was reported by Tyre News in 2025, placing the latest figures in a continuing programme rather than a one-off campaign.
Oak Tyres said its latest offsetting total is equivalent to 7,059 long-haul flights, 27,600 square metres of sea ice saved, or more than 23.4 million miles driven in a car. The company has also supported projects including the distribution of fuel-efficient cookstoves in Kenya, designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower indoor air pollution for households.
Commercial Director Peter Cross said tyre businesses should treat sustainability “not as a passing trend, but as a core responsibility”. He added that Oak’s partnership with Ecologi had become “more meaningful” as the company looked back at the impact achieved through collaboration.

For tyre wholesalers, sustainability claims are increasingly linked to procurement, logistics and customer expectations. Dealers, fleets and workshops are now looking beyond product availability and price, with environmental reporting becoming part of supplier assessment.
That shift is visible across the wider tyre trade. Tyre News has recently reported on Oak Group Holdings’ acquisition of ETB, which widened its UK retail and wholesale footprint, and on its Newport distribution expansion, which will add storage capacity and regional delivery coverage.
As Oak’s operational footprint expands, the company’s environmental reporting will attract closer attention from customers and partners. Carbon offsetting does not remove the need to reduce direct emissions, but verified climate projects can form part of a broader transition plan when paired with logistics efficiency, waste reduction and transparent measurement.
The latest Oak Tyres update also reflects a wider sustainability movement across the UK tyre sector. Tyre News has covered related developments in end-of-life tyre traceability, including Big Atom’s digital tyre tracking system for ELTs, as well as wider analysis of sustainable tyre manufacturing benchmarks.
In practice, the industry is being asked to show progress across the full tyre lifecycle. That includes production materials, distribution emissions, tyre use, recovery and recycling. For wholesalers, climate partnerships offer one route to demonstrate action, particularly where they can be tied to measurable annual reporting.
Oak Tyres said its relationship with Ecologi remains central to its sustainability work. The company’s latest figures suggest the programme is continuing to scale, while giving customers a clearer view of the environmental projects linked to its business activity.
