TyreSafe has received an Institute of Master Tutors of Driving (IMTD) 2025 Award for its sustained contribution to road safety and education. The recognition highlights TyreSafe’s outreach to new and young drivers and its practical guidance for instructors. The award will be presented in Coventry on Sunday, 14 September 2025.
The IMTD Awards recognise measurable improvements in driver training and safety. TyreSafe’s programme equips instructors with resources that make regular tyre checks a routine skill for learners. The charity’s simple ‘ACT’ approach 'Air pressure, Condition, Tread' underpins this guidance and helps standardise tyre checks across lessons.
“We are delighted to receive this recognition from the IMTD,” said TyreSafe Chair Stuart Lovatt.
New and young drivers remain among the most vulnerable groups on UK roads. TyreSafe has prioritised this audience through partnerships with training providers and campaigns that make hands-on tyre checks part of core learning. The award specifically acknowledges this targeted effort.
TyreSafe’s education drive has included a partnership with RED Driver Training to reach learners at the start of their driving journey, and a Bikeability collaboration to instil tyre-check habits among young riders. The charity has also urged action as UK road deaths have risen, stressing that tyre neglect undermines modern safety tech.
IMTD will present the 2025 awards during its Annual Lunch in Coventry on 14 September 2025 (Holiday Inn Coventry M6 J2), aligning with the body’s September AGM.
