EcoVadis ratings are widely used by global OEMs and suppliers to benchmark environmental and social performance. VMI’s new Gold status signals to tyre makers and their supply chains that the Dutch machinery specialist is taking measurable steps towards responsible manufacturing.
EcoVadis grades companies on 21 criteria grouped under four themes:
According to VMI, steady improvements across all four themes lifted its overall score into the top five per cent of more than 150,000 firms assessed worldwide.
VMI first gained a Bronze rating in 2022 and upgraded to Silver last year. Achieving Gold in just three assessment cycles reflects what the company calls a “turning point” in its sustainability roadmap, which now covers product design, factory operations and social programmes.
VMI says it will use the EcoVadis feedback to set new targets for carbon reduction and supplier engagement, and will publish updated progress data later in 2025. The firm adds that transparent reporting is key to meeting customer expectations in the tyre and rubber sectors.
