Kumho Named OE Tyre Partner for Kia’s New Tasman Pickup.

Kumho Tire has secured an original-equipment (OE) deal to supply its all-season Crugen HT51 for Kia’s first pickup, the Tasman. The agreement extends Kumho’s reach in key growth markets and underscores the tyre maker’s bid for a larger share of global light-truck fitments.

Kumho seals OE deal on Kia’s debut pickup

Kumho confirmed it will provide 17-inch Crugen HT51 tyres for Tasman models sold in South Korea, Australia, wider Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The fitment builds on recent OE supply wins covering Kia’s EV3, EV4, EV6 and EV9 lines.

“Our continued partnership with leading global automotive brands reflects the exceptional quality of our products,” said Insoo Kim, Head of OE Sales at Kumho Tire.

Crugen HT51: engineered for all-season durability

On-road refinement

An asymmetric tread pattern and variable pitch blocks help disperse airborne noise, supporting a quieter cabin on long highway drives.

Off-road confidence

Rigid tread blocks and zig-zag shoulder grooves add bite on loose or uneven terrain, while 3D sipes and stepped “cuff” grooves enhance traction and braking on snow-covered surfaces.

Kia Tasman: production and target markets

Kia’s body-on-frame Tasman entered production in February 2025 at the Hwaseong plant, with first deliveries in Australia and New Zealand from April 2025. The mid-size pickup will compete with the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux and is not scheduled for North American release.

Why the deal matters for Kumho

  • Volume uplift – Pickups and SUVs command higher tyre volumes per vehicle than passenger cars.
  • Market mix – Australia and the Middle East are high-margin regions for light-truck products.
  • Brand halo – A first-fit contract on a headline model supports Kumho’s premium positioning against Tier-1 rivals.
