Tyre manufacturer invests in state-of-the-art production base to strengthen European passenger car radial allocation
NAMA Tires is bolstering its European passenger car radial (PCR) tyre supply through the development of an advanced Industry 4.0 manufacturing facility in Cambodia. The strategic investment establishes a robust overseas production base designed to meet increasing market demands whilst ensuring reliable allocations for the company's European partners.
The Cambodian PCR facility has been designed with ambitious capacity targets, planning for a full build-out of 20 million units annually. The project will be delivered in two distinct phases:
Phase 1 will establish production capacity of 13.5 million units per year, providing the foundation for the operation.
Phase 2 will add a further 6.5 million units of annual capacity, completing the planned expansion and bringing the facility to its full 20-million-unit capability.
NAMA's initial ramp-up strategy focuses on supplying 4.5 million units annually to international markets. This measured approach has been carefully aligned with market demand and the progression of homologation requirements across different regions.
The Cambodia facility supports NAMA's commitment to predictable supply allocation amidst ongoing global supply chain shifts. The development complements the company's expansion activities in Thailand, which have been partly driven by the need to navigate European Union tariff structures.
Cambodia's location offers NAMA significant trade advantages through its participation in regional agreements including ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership). These frameworks enable efficient logistics whilst enhancing supply chain resilience.
The Cambodian facility forms part of NAMA's broader multi-country production strategy, which spans Thailand, Vietnam, and Europe. This geographically diverse manufacturing footprint utilises advanced technology across passenger car radials, truck and bus radials (TBR), and other tyre categories, positioning the company to serve global markets with greater flexibility and reliability.
